The Jonathan Netanyahu Lodge of B'nai B'rith was founded in January 1987 to encourage young Jewish adults in the Dallas area to forge a common bond and to continue the efforts of the international organization in the form of community service, religious and social activities geared toward the "Baby Boomer" age group.
The result of this alliance was the creation of one of the youngest (in terms of our members median ages) and most active lodges in B'nai B'rith. Some of our most successful programs include:
Participation in the citywide Christmas Mitzvah program at area hospitals. By assisting nurses and other hospital staff with non-technical duties, we provide cheer to patients as well as provide the hospitals christian volunteers with the opportunity to spend Christmas with their families.
Participation in the Adopt-A-Highway Program. Our lodge is part of the statewide program which ensures that our roadways are clean. Four times a year, the lodge spends 2 hours cleaning up debris along a one mile stretch of road in Plano. You will notice our sign along 15th Street and Custer Road.
Participation in food distribution to those in need, Every month, our members donate food to either the North Texas Food bank or to an "adopted" family who has fallen on hard times and needs a temporary helping hand.
Opportunities to discuss major topics of the day with local newsmakers and celebrities. Whether the topic is politics, religious freedom, business climate, interpersonal relationships or sports, we provide a monthly outlet for leaders in these fields to present and discuss their views with a cross section of the jewish community.
Participation in social activities to encourage new friendships and quality family time. Whether a member bowls in the B'nai B'rith league, attends professional sports functions with the lodge or attends family picnics or the annual Chanukah party, we provide a posutive outlet for members who enjoy participation in many fun and exciting social activities.
